After murdering his live-in partner of three years without marriage, Aftab Amin Poonawala cold-heartedly destroyed the evidence. Shraddha Walker’s body disappeared. He did that too with a cool head. India’s Delhi Police came to know after investigation.
Delhi Police claims that Aftab did all this by watching crime movies and serials. From those, the evidence of the murder was destroyed.
Aftab Poonawala, who is only 28, is accused of murdering his 27-year-old live-in partner Shraddha six months ago. He cut the lover’s body into 35 pieces. Then he spread the pieces in different parts of Delhi.
In this regard, Aftab was arrested on Saturday based on the complaint of the lover’s father. The court sent him to police custody for five days. After questioning him, the police found out that he used to watch the crime series ‘Dexter’. In the interrogation, he admitted that he killed Shraddha because she was pressuring him for marriage.
It is known that this popular American series ran from 2006 to 2011. Dexter Morgan, the protagonist of the series, was a police forensics expert. He used to kill in his spare time. Aftab was impressed by that series.
According to Delhi Police, Aftab Poonawala is originally a resident of Mumbai. Shraddha is also a Mumbai girl. The two met through a dating app while working at a call center. South Delhi Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Ankit Chauhan said that Aftab and Shraddha started living together three years ago. After that he left Mumbai and moved to Delhi. At one point, Shraddha started pressuring Aftab for marriage. This was a daily problem.
