
Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, has passed away at the age of 100. He died at his home in Plains, Georgia, on Sunday afternoon, December 29. The news was confirmed by the Carter Center, which was founded by Carter himself.

While his presidency faced criticism on various fronts and led to a decline in his popularity, Carter regained his reputation through extensive humanitarian work after leaving the White House.
In 2002, he was honored with the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts in promoting peaceful conflict resolution, advancing democracy and human rights, and supporting economic and social development.
Carter’s son, Chip Carter, shared in a statement, “My father was a hero, not only to me, but to all who believe in peace, human rights, and selfless love.”
Jimmy Carter is survived by four children and 11 grandchildren. His wife, Rosalynn, passed away in November 2023.
